Plant rentals · The Midway, San Francisco

Plants for your Midway event, ready for the show.

The Preserve rents plants for launches, conferences, and show nights at The Midway, the 40,000-square-foot creative complex in Dogpatch. It is a venue built from concrete, LED, and projection — greenery is what gives all that spectacle a human scale. We plan delivery around your load-in window, install to your floor plan, and strike on schedule.

What we take care of.

The Midway is a working production venue — the calendar turns over fast and the show file runs the day. Our job is to be one clean line in it, so the plants are simply there, looking right, when doors open.

No. 1

Delivery & install

We schedule against your confirmed load-in window on Marin Street, move in through the freight access, and place every plant to your floor plan.

No. 2

On-site styling

We walk the room with you before doors and adjust anything that doesn't read right once the LED walls and show lighting are up.

No. 3

Pickup & teardown

We strike inside your move-out window, including late-night strikes when the venue turns around for the next show.

No. 4

Insured & papered

Fully insured, with Certificates of Insurance sent to the venue and your production company ahead of load-in, in the format they require.

The rooms

Spaces we green at The Midway.

Five distinct rooms plus galleries under one roof, from a concert-scale main floor to a 360-degree projection box. Each one asks something different of the greenery, and treating them the same is how plants disappear into the background for the wrong reason.

The RideThe main room — up to 1,500 standing with a built-in stage, LED wall, and serious sound. Statement trees framing the stage edge that read on camera, and planters that shape an open floor into a room.
Gods & MonstersThe lounge, up to 350 for VIP receptions and team celebrations. Scale matters here; a few well-chosen plants beat a lot of small ones.
CarreSelThe 360-degree projection room, around 175 standing. We keep profiles low and placements tight so the greenery works with the projection instead of casting shadows through it.
The PatioThe heated outdoor patio, up to 400 for cocktail hours and food-truck moments. We spec material that holds up outdoors rather than material that only looks good inside.
The ObservatoryThe rooftop, around 200, for arrivals, sunset receptions, and sponsor moments. Wind-hardy plants, heavier planters, lower profiles.
Galleries & entryFirst-impression greenery where badges get scanned and step-and-repeats go up — the part of the complex guests photograph.

A venue built for spectacle, warmed properly.

The Midway gives you concrete, LED, projection, and a sound system that means it. What it doesn't give you is softness, and that's the whole job. We plan the plant scheme around where guests actually stand — the entry, the bar lines, the photo wall, the stage edge — rather than scattering greenery evenly and hoping. Every order is planned by the same people who style it on the day.

Nothing for you to clean up
Good to know

The Midway questions.

What planners and producers ask us about working events at the complex.

Do you deliver to The Midway?

Yes. We deliver to The Midway at 900 Marin Street for launches, conferences, activations, and show nights across every room, scheduled to your confirmed load-in window. Delivery is billed by scope, and we confirm the window against your production schedule before we quote.

Which rooms at The Midway do you work?

All of them — The Ride, Gods & Monsters, the CarreSel projection room, the heated Patio, the Observatory rooftop, plus the galleries and entry. One order can cover several rooms at once, which is usually cheaper than treating them separately.

Can you work around a show schedule and a same-night strike?

Yes — that's the normal shape of a Midway job. The venue's calendar turns over quickly, so load-in windows are firm and strike often happens late the same night. Send your production schedule with your request and we'll plan delivery and teardown against the real times.

Can you provide a Certificate of Insurance for The Midway?

Yes. We're fully insured and send COIs directly to the venue and your production company ahead of load-in, with whatever additional-insured language is required. Send us the requirements and we'll handle the paperwork.

What does plant rental cost for a Midway event?

Pricing is per plant, and one rental price covers your event for up to three days. There's a $3,000 minimum per event, and delivery is billed separately based on your window and the size of the install. A single-room reception typically lands between $3,000 and $6,000; full-complex takeovers and multi-room conferences run larger.

Will plants read under LED walls and show lighting?

Yes, if they're specced for it. Big glossy foliage catches stage light instead of disappearing into it, and in the CarreSel we keep profiles low so the projection lines stay clean. We walk the room once your lighting is up and move anything that isn't reading.

What about the Patio and the Observatory rooftop?

Both are outdoors, so we spec differently — sturdier plants, heavier planters, and lower profiles for the rooftop where the wind comes through. Tell us which areas are outside and we'll plan for the exposure rather than discovering it on the day.

Will the plants last a multi-day event without watering?

Yes. We spec hardy material, water and groom everything before it leaves the shop, and one rental price covers up to three days. We don't staff on-site watering during events; for longer runs, ask about a mid-event refresh visit.

How far ahead should we book for The Midway?

Four to six weeks is ideal, and the fall conference and holiday-party season books out earliest. If your date is sooner than that, ask anyway — we'll tell you straight away what's possible rather than leaving you waiting.

What if a plant gets damaged mid-event?

We swap it. We keep healthy backups in rotation at our shop and schedule replacements around your event hours.

How do deposits and payment work?

A 50% deposit up front so we can source the exact plants and planters your event needs, and the remaining 50% one week before the event. No deposit is taken before you've seen and approved the proposal.
