Greenery for the whole gathering.

From an indoor welcome to an outdoor bar, one corporate leadership gathering called for greenery at several scales. The Preserve coordinated the plant selection for distinct reception and hospitality settings in the Bay Area.

The project
at a glance.

The brief brought together indoor reception spaces and outdoor dinner and cocktail areas. The event team wanted different planting directions for those settings, supported by a substantial rental order.

The invoice itemized 296 plants, with additional special-order plant and planter lots listed separately. That figure describes the order’s documented scope; the photographs show selected areas of the completed installation.

01 / The brief

A palette for each setting.

Planning began with two different looks: one for the indoor reception setting and another for the rustic dinner and happy-hour areas. The plant choices needed to relate to the setting around them, from interior displays to the outdoor hospitality space.

The event team and The Preserve worked through plant forms and container preferences before finalizing the order. Olive trees and bushes, along with special rustic planters, were part of that selection discussion.

02 / The bar area

Frame the bar, then carry the greenery outward.

The bar photographs show taller potted trees between the serving stations, with ferns and other low foliage around their bases. The planting gives the long bar fronts a layered outline against the timber deck and fabric canopy.

The same outdoor setting extends to cocktail tables and the terrace edge. Trees and smaller potted plants mark those surrounding areas, while the photographs keep the relationship between the bars, standing tables and open deck visible.

03 / The scale

A large order, broken into useful groups.

The itemized plant quantities were divided between the main and rustic selections. The rustic portion alone listed 72 plants in its approved order: two extra-large, 22 large, 16 medium and 32 small. Special-order plant and container lots were listed separately.

That mix is a useful starting point for a brief spanning more than one setting. Larger forms can define the edges of a scene; smaller plants can be considered around bar fronts, reception details and the bases of taller pieces. The actual selection still depends on the floor plan and the look being developed.

04 / The installation

From the indoor welcome to the evening gathering.

The customer confirmed that the indoor load-in had happened ahead of the main event and that the event team had arranged the indoor display using the delivered plants. The Preserve supplied the rental plants and coordinated the order and access requirements; the wider event design and indoor placement belonged to the event team.

Photographs from the event document the outdoor bars and cocktail deck. The event team’s later indoor photos show the live rubber plants beside the display mirrors. Those views give a closer look at selected parts of the finished setting, alongside the larger order recorded for the event.

The event team supplied these indoor photos after the event. The rubber plants in white pots were live plants supplied by The Preserve; the snake plants behind them were artificial background pieces. The event team arranged this display.
